Tension Rises Between Sports Ministry and FECAFOOT Over New Indomitable Lions’ Coach Barc Brys Appointment
A rift has emerged between the Sports Ministry and the Federation of Cameroon Football (FECAFOOT), led by Samuel Eto’o, following the recent appointment of a new coach for the Indomitable Lions.
On Wednesday, the Sports Ministry announced the appointment of Belgian coach Barc Brys as the new head coach of the national team. However, this decision has not been well received by FECAFOOT.
The federation expressed its displeasure, stating that they were only informed of the appointment and were not involved in the selection and appointment process.
In a statement, FECAFOOT highlighted their lack of direct or indirect involvement in the pre-selection process for vacant positions, citing regulations related to the recruitment of personnel within the technical, administrative, and medical management of national teams.
FECAFOOT emphasized that they cannot recognize appointments made outside of a legal and regulatory framework. They expressed their stance against compromising with supranational regulations and reiterated their commitment to adhering to legal provisions in Cameroon.
The tension between the Sports Ministry and FECAFOOT underscores the complexity and importance of administrative processes in football management, especially concerning key appointments within national teams
