The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-corruption Commission, Muhyi Magaji, has been suspended by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) following allegations of misconduct and breaches of public officer’s conduct.
Magaji faces charges including alleged conflict of interest, false asset declaration, and accepting bribes.
The CCT granted a motion for Magaji’s suspension, directing him to step aside from his position pending the resolution of the case.
This decision came after the Kano State Government raised concerns over what it described as harassment and intimidation of the PCACC chairman by federal agencies.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the Code of Conduct Bureau confirmed Magaji’s suspension, stating that the tribunal established its competence and jurisdiction to hear the case.
The trial is set to continue on May 7 and 8, 2024.
