NPFL: Rangers Edge Out 10 Men Sunshine Stars; Winning By 2 Goals To Nil

Rangers defeated Sunshine Stars of Akure by 2 goals to nothing in NPFL Mid-week Clash.

Rangers Boss Fidelis Ilechukwu however believed his team should have done better despite their victory over Sunshine Stars.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers International has voiced his disappointment despite his team’s 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars.

The ‘Flying Antelopes’ showcased one of their best performances of the season but struggled to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities in their 2-0 win against Sunshine Stars F.C of Akure during a matchday 28 NPFL 2023/2024 fixture held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

Kalu Nweke and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi found the net for the Fidelis Ilechukwu-led side, which has remained unbeaten in ten consecutive league matches and continues to lead the twenty-team standings.

Expressing his sentiments, Ilechukwu stated, “It was a game dominated entirely by us, both in the first and second halves. We created numerous chances but unfortunately, failed to convert most of them. It’s quite disappointing, and I’m not satisfied with that.”

“I had expected today’s game to end with a more convincing scoreline, possibly 5-0 in our favor, but that’s football for you. These things happen, and we are working tirelessly to address these shortcomings and become more clinical in front of goal,” Ilechukwu added.

Despite the victory, Rangers maintain their top position with 51 points from 28 matches and are set to face Katsina United in an away fixture during matchday 29 on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

The Flying Antelopes will be hoping to pick a valuable point from that particular contest against Katsina to keep their quest of winning the title and continental football intact.
