Cameroon appoints Belgian Manager Marc Brys as New Head Coach of the Indomitable Lions.
Cameroon has announced the appointment of Belgian Marc Brys as the new head coach of their men’s football team, replacing former coach Rigobert Song whose contract expired in February and was not renewed.
Marc Brys (born 10 May 1962) is a Belgian football manager and former player, most recently the manager of OH Leuven in the Belgian Pro League.
Marc Brys will be supported by assistant coaches Joachim Mununga and Giannis Xilouris, as well as a new technical, medical, and administrative staff, as stated by the sports ministry in a recent statement.
Rigobert Song, who led the Indomitable Lions to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, concluded his contract on Feb. 29. Under his leadership, Cameroon achieved a notable victory against Brazil but exited the tournament in the group stage.
During the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Song’s team reached the round of 16, where they were defeated by Nigeria, the eventual finalists.
As a former player, Rigobert Song earned 137 caps while representing Cameroon.
The people of Cameroon will be hoping that the fortunes of their national team will change under the leadership of the new Belgian gaffer.
