The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected kidnapper identified as Roland Raymond, aged 32, in Detti village, Ganye Local Government Area.
The arrest was made as Raymond attempted to collect ransom money from his victims.
According to official sources, the suspect was captured following a report by concerned citizens, Alhaji Yahaya Congo and Abraham Paul, who reported receiving threats and demands for a sum of N600,000 under the threat of abduction.
Acting promptly on the complaint, authorities, in collaboration with local hunters, mobilized and apprehended Raymond at the very moment he was receiving the demanded ransom.
A statement released by the Adamawa State Police Command read, “The suspect will face charges of criminal intimidation associated with kidnapping following thorough investigation.”
This development marks the second successful operation in recent months where security agencies have intercepted kidnappers in the act of collecting ransom. In February, troops from the 93 Battalion, under the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, apprehended Janet Igohia, a suspected notorious female kidnapper in Taraba state, under similar circumstances.
