The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reiterated its commitment to a strigent anti-corruption crusade, sparing no one involved in economic and financial crimes.
In a recent statement, the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, emphasized the agency’s determination to combat corruption at all levels, including targeting mega thieves and internet fraudsters.
Speaking at an Anti-Corruption Concert in Abuja aimed at raising awareness about internet crimes, Olukoyede affirmed the EFCC’s resolve to pursue an all-encompassing approach to rooting out corruption. He emphasized that the agency’s focus extends beyond internet fraud, citing recent cases where two former governors were arraigned within the past two months.
Olukoyede cautioned youths against engaging in internet-related offenses, highlighting the severe consequences of conviction, including career limitations and social stigma. He urged them to prioritize their future over short-term gains from illicit activities.
Under his leadership, Olukoyede revealed plans for a Cyber Crime Research Centre within the New Academy of the EFCC. This initiative aims to engage youths in in-depth research on cybercrime while redirecting their energies towards productive endeavors.
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, echoed the call for youth support in the EFCC’s anti-corruption campaign. He emphasized the need for collective action to combat corruption and safeguard Nigeria’s future.
