The Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation has issued a statement expressing concern over the reported destruction of billboards belonging to their principal, Wale Akinterinwa, allegedly by suspected political thugs.
This incident comes just weeks ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary scheduled for April 25, 2024. Among the aspirants vying for the party’s ticket are Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Wale Akinterinwa.
According to Mr. Segun Ajiboye, spokesperson for the Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation, they are calling on Governor Aiyedatiwa to intervene and urge his supporters to cease the attacks on their billboards.
However, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers, represented by Mr. Kayode Fasua, Director of Publicity, refuted the allegations, labeling them as falsehoods aimed at tarnishing the governor’s reputation.
The Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation referenced a previous incident in February during President Bola Tinubu’s visit, where they claimed Aiyedatiwa’s supporters destroyed billboards, with promises from the governor to investigate.
They lamented the lack of action and arrests made in that regard.
In response, Fasua dismissed the accusations as baseless and urged Akinterinwa’s campaign group to conduct a thorough investigation. He pointed out the inferior quality of some billboards, suggesting they may have collapsed due to natural causes such as heavy rains and whirlwinds.
Fasua advised Akinterinwa’s team to focus on internal matters rather than implicating Governor Aiyedatiwa.
