Kenya Awards Contract to China Road and Bridge Corporation for Construction of 60,000-Seat Stadium in Nairobi

Kenya has made a significant stride in its sports infrastructure development by awarding China Road and Bridge Corporation the contract to build a state-of-the-art 60,000-seat stadium in Nairobi city.

This decision comes in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which Kenya will jointly host with Tanzania and Uganda in 2027.

The new stadium project marks a significant investment in Kenya’s sporting facilities, aiming to enhance the country’s capabilities to host major international tournaments and showcase its prowess on the continental stage.

The partnership with China Road and Bridge Corporation, known for its expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects, is expected to ensure the timely and efficient completion of the stadium.

Once completed, the stadium will not only provide a world-class venue for football matches but also serve as a multi-purpose facility for various sporting and entertainment events. Its 60,000-seat capacity will accommodate a large number of spectators, creating an electrifying atmosphere for sporting enthusiasts and fans.

The Africa Cup of Nations tournament, scheduled for 2027 and to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, promises to be a momentous occasion for the East African region.

The new stadium in Nairobi will play a crucial role in facilitating the successful hosting of matches and contributing to the overall success of the tournament.

The decision to award the contract to China Road and Bridge Corporation underscores Kenya’s commitment to investing in modern infrastructure and promoting sports development.

It reflects a strategic vision aimed at elevating Kenya’s status as a leading destination for major sporting events in Africa.

As construction set to commence on the impressive 60,000-seat stadium, anticipation builds for the transformative impact it will have on Kenya’s sports landscape and its ability to host world-class tournaments with excellence and distinction.
