President Bola Tinubu has implemented adjustments to the leadership structure of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education.
These changes, announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, entail the appointment of Brigadier-General Lawal Isa (retd.) as the new Chairman of the Commission, while Dr. Idris Sani assumes the role of Executive Secretary/CEO.
Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Commission, taking over from his previous position as Executive Secretary. Concurrently, Dr. Idris Sani has been named as the Executive Secretary/CEO, succeeding Sha’aban Sharada, who held the position since the Commission’s inception in May 2023.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari had assented to the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education Bill 2023, appointing Sharada as Executive Secretary. However, President Tinubu has opted for new leadership to steer the Commission’s initiatives.
Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as a military administrator of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996. Dr. Idris Sani, on the other hand, possesses extensive academic qualifications in Islamic Studies and has held various important roles in education and governance, including Director-General of Al-Iman School Lafia and Commissioner for Basic/Secondary Education in Yobe State.
