In the aftermath of the recent violence in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori embarked on a visit to assess the extent of the devastation on Monday.
However, the presence of journalists to cover the governor’s tour was met with resistance from military Joint Task Force (JTF) personnel.
The JTF, stationed in the area, barred journalists from accessing Okuama by blockading major entry points with an armoured personnel carrier tank. This obstruction halted vehicular and human traffic, including media representatives, from entering the troubled community.
Governor Oborevwori was received by the leader of the military JTF, Major General Jamaal Abdulsalam, upon his arrival. The two officials then engaged in a closed-door meeting that spanned approximately one hour.
