Mikel Arteta has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for February.
Arteta scooped the award for February after guiding Arsenal to four wins from four and scoring 18 goals in the process, edging out Pep Guardiola and Erik ten Hag to win the silverware, and celebrated collecting the prize with his coaching staff – Inaki Cana, Carlos Cuesta, Albert Stuivenberg, Nicolas Jover and Miguel Molina.
Mikel was the only boss in the division to record a 100 per cent record in February, which began with the joyous 3-1 win against table-topping Liverpool that pulled Arsenal back into title contention, and the momentum from that saw Arsenal thrash West Ham United 6-0.
Burnley were then blitzed 5-0 away from home before the Gunners rounded off the month with a 4-1 success against Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium to move within touching distance of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the league.
It is the first award for Mikel this season having been nominated five times, and adds to his growing collection of divisional monthly accolades.
He has now been named Manager of the Month on seven occasions since taking charge of Arsenal in December 2019, meaning only seven managers in the competition’s history have won more.
One of those is Arsene Wenger, and when you combine his 15 triumphs with Mikel’s, it means that only Manchester United and Liverpool have won more often than Arsenal.
