The Lagos State Government has embarked on a significant endeavor by sponsoring 12 young leaders to participate in a leadership training program in Helsinki, Finland.
Led by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, and the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, the delegation comprises the State Youth Ambassador, Five Divisional Youth Ambassadors, and Six Young Transformational Leaders.
The leadership training, scheduled to take place at the prestigious Management Institute of Finland in Helsinki, is poised to equip the young leaders with essential traits and skills imperative for effective global leadership. Additionally, the participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Finnish culture and visit notable educational and historical sites across Helsinki.
With Finland renowned for its exceptional integration of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) into its educational system, the trainees will also explore vocational and training centers, gaining insights into Finland’s successful educational model.
Commissioner Ogunlende emphasized that the international trip aligns with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Developmental Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration, particularly in the realm of youth engagement and social inclusion. He stated Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to continuous youth empowerment and investment, stating, “These vibrant youths are expected to unlearn, learn, and relearn with a global mindset and positively impact their sphere and circle of influence upon returning to the State.”
Similarly, Permanent Secretary Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu highlighted the significance of the study tour in providing exposure and experiences that will enhance the youths’ performance across various facets of life.
She reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to contributing to the actualization of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s developmental agenda through continuous engagement and mentoring based on international global standards.
