Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is addressing the widespread outage affecting its platforms globally. Reports from worldwide Users about being locked out of their accounts have prompted Meta to release a statement acknowledging the issue.
According to Meta spokesman Andy Stone, the company is actively working to resolve the problem.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,”
Reports on the DownDetector website indicate a significant spike in outage reports for both Facebook and Instagram, with millions of users affected.
Even Threads, Meta’s rival to Twitter, has experienced outages. However, WhatsApp, another messaging service owned by Meta, appears to be unaffected. Facebook’s status page for advertisers confirms the disruptions, with engineering teams working to resolve the issue swiftly.
Users attempting to access Facebook are unable to log in despite using the correct password, while Instagram users are experiencing feed refresh issues on mobile devices. With Facebook boasting three billion active monthly users and Instagram having 1.35 billion users, the outage is impacting a large number of individuals and businesses worldwide.
