Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Jose W. Fernandez, announced the expansion of the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) with the inclusion of Estonia during the “Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Convention (PDAC)” in Toronto, Canada.
The addition of Estonia brings the MSP’s partnership tally to 14 countries along with the European Union. Estonia’s role as a significant stakeholder in rare earths production and processing positions it as a valuable asset within the MSP framework, contributing to efforts aimed at enhancing global mineral security.
At the MSP’s high-level principles meeting on March 3, MSP Partners introduced the establishment of the MSP Forum, solidifying collaboration with select mineral-producing nations dedicated to advancing projects with robust environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
The Forum’s objective is to foster diverse and resilient supply chains, as well as to promote local value-addition and beneficiation.
The MSP Forum serves as a platform for Partners and Forum Members to engage in discussions and initiatives that promote a secure and sustainable supply of critical minerals with local beneficiation. This includes information sharing, presentations on critical minerals opportunities, geological survey requests, and more.
Furthermore, the Policy Dialogue component of the MSP Forum will focus on policies aimed at enhancing sustainable production, regulatory cooperation, the application of high ESG standards, and effective recycling measures.
