Mikel Arteta Praises Arsenal’s Summer Signings After Record Win.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has hailed the impact of the club’s summer signings following their historic 6-0 triumph over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Monday night.
Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, both recruited from West Ham United and Chelsea respectively, found the net in Arsenal’s dominant display, matching their biggest Premier League away victory.
The Gunners have been in scintillating form, notching up an impressive tally of 31 goals in seven Premier League fixtures in 2024. They’ve also become the first team to score five or more goals in three consecutive Premier League away matches.
With seven consecutive league victories under their belt, Arsenal currently sit in third place with 61 points, just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Arteta credited the impact of the summer signings, stating, “Picking the right players that could bring something that we didn’t have to the squad, and they’re certainly doing that and improving every single player, and the mechanisms and culture around the team.”
However, Arteta acknowledged that the most crucial part of the season lies ahead and emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum.
Regarding injuries, Arteta provided updates on Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, who were substituted during the match. Saka was withdrawn due to feeling unwell, while Martinelli sustained a minor foot injury.
Looking ahead, Arteta revealed that Takehiro Tomiyasu is nearing a return from a calf injury as Arsenal prepare to host Brentford in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Arteta also added he was delighted to see the return of Fabio Vieira and Thomas Partey, after their respective lay-offs.
“I’m happy that we have some players back as well. To see Fabio after that many months to see Thomas after four months, they are good signs from the team.”
