The Sokoto State Police Command has made remarkable achievements in its fight against armed banditry and kidnapping activities.
The police intercepted and apprehended five individuals suspected to be part of a kidnapping syndicate along the Bodinga-Tambunwal Highway on February 13, 2024.
The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Ali, Aliyu Mohammed, Abdullahi Umar, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Anas, were found in possession of three AK-47 rifles, 90 rounds of live ammunition, and 3 AK-47 magazines.
Confessions from the suspects revealed their intention to carry out a kidnapping operation in Tambuwal before their plans were thwarted by the vigilant efforts of the Nigeria Police Force.
Additionally, on February 14, 2024, suspected bandits were sighted near Gigane Village, Sokoto State. Prompt action by the State Tactical Team led to a fierce encounter, resulting in the neutralization of some bandits.
One GPMG rifle with six live ammunition was recovered from the scene, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement to rid the state of criminal elements.
Efforts have been intensified to track down other fleeing members of the gang and apprehend any criminally minded individuals operating within the state.
