President Tinubu has approved the immediate release of 102,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize from the National Food Reserves in response to the growing demonstrations and worries about the skyrocketing cost of food throughout Nigeria.
The purpose of this action is to increase the supply of basic food goods and lessen the financial burden that residents are bearing from inflation rates that are getting close to 30%.
Information Minister Malam Mohammed Idris made the statement and outlined the government’s proactive steps to deal with the urgent problem. Along with removing food from storage facilities, these steps also entail interacting with millers and traders to guarantee a long-term solution.
In addition, the federal government will closely supervise the distribution of these food items to different states in order to ensure that they are distributed effectively and are accessible to all areas.
