Civil servants may experience a delay in receiving their salaries this month as the federal government has announced that the payment for January will be late.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, it was emphasised that the salary payment is not expected to be “coming to soon.”
The statement, titled “Delay in the payment of January 2024 salary,” was made available late Wednesday to newsmen.
It reads, in part, “We wish to inform you that January 2024 salaries will be delayed beyond the normal schedule. As of today, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is still working on finalising the 2024 Appropriation on the GIFMIS platform, and as a result, the personnel warrant for the month of January 2024 is yet to be released.”
“The same situation applies to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the centre. We regret the inconvenience caused by this delay,” the statement concluded.
