Usman Ododo, a member of the All Progressives Congress, took his oath of office as the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State.
This follows his victory in the 2023 governorship election where he secured 446,237 votes, surpassing rivals Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The swearing-in, which took place at 2:30 p.m., was administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Joseph Majebi, and witnessed by dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC Chairman Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje. Ododo’s deputy, Salifu Oyibo, also took the oath of office during the ceremony.
Ododo, who succeeded Yahaya Bello, pledged to build on the accomplishments of his predecessor while emphasizing his commitment to preserving the unity of the state.
Expressing gratitude to Bello, Ododo presented an award of service – Grand Conference Silver Service Star – acknowledging the guidance he received on the path of governance.
Ododo reassured the people of Kogi State that he would fulfill his campaign promises, highlighting his dedication to governance and service.
