Morocco Complacent As DR. Congo picked up a point to keep hope of qualifications alive.
It ended 1:1 between Morocco and DR. Congo in the second group game in group F, as DR. Congo stood firm to earn a deserving point.
Morocco came into the match as favourite to win on paper and they looked like they will be doing just that when they took the lead through PSG’s Hakimi in the sixth minute with an assist by former Chelsea player Ziyech.
However despite many other chances to put the game to bed, Morocco couldn’t get the second goal and instead it was the never giving up attitude of DR. Congo that eventually paid off, as they earned a penalty in the closing minute of the first half, however Bakambu missed his spot kick and Morocco survived the initial scare.
The Moroccans wouldn’t be second time lucky though, as Silas found the back of the net in the 78th minute with a calm lovely finish.
Congo held on till the end got a well deserved point from a game they’ve been written off.
The result means Morocco now have 4 points and still top Group F while DR. Congo earned their second draw leaving them with 2 point and second on the log.
Up next for Morocco is a task against Zambia while DR. Congo will be facing off with Tanzania.
