President Bola Tinubu extends his warm congratulations to President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) on his resounding re-election.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, issued a statement praising the efficient conduct of the election by both the government and the people of DR Congo.
President Tinubu not only congratulates President Tshisekedi but also commends the citizens of DR Congo for their commitment to democratic values. He highlights their commendable exercise of voting rights without resorting to actions that could undermine the endurance of democracy.
Tinubu expresses satisfaction with the well-concluded elections, stating that democracy is sustainable on the continent.
“It is welcoming that the last elections in DR Congo were well-concluded. Democracy is sustainable on the continent. I congratulate President Tshisekedi on his victory. The President has demonstrated statesmanship in his handling of regional and continental matters. Africa will overcome any challenge with governance by popular consent, and democracy will thrive,” President Tinubu states.
With President Felix Tshisekedi securing a second term with an impressive 73% of the vote, President Tinubu wishes him a successful term in office. Tinubu’s recognition of Tshisekedi’s statesmanship extends to his handling of regional and continental affairs, emphasizing the belief that Africa will overcome challenges through governance by popular consent. The official turnout of the election is reported to be approximately 43% of the country’s 44 million registered voters.
President Tshisekedi is set to be sworn in for his second term on January 20, marking the continuation of his leadership in DR Congo.
