On Friday afternoon, at around 12:30 pm protesting women took matters into their own hands and set ablaze the house of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michael Adanchi, in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Adanchi, who holds a prominent position as the traditional ruler, saw his residence and administrative office go up in flames as a result of the enraged women’s actions. According to sources from the area, the protest stemmed from the recent arrest of community members linked to the ongoing violence in the region.
The turmoil began at the local police station, where the women expressed their fury over the alleged wrongful arrests. Subsequently, they marched to the residence of the traditional ruler, accusing him of being a sellout. Within minutes of reaching Adanchi’s house, the protestors set it ablaze, leaving destruction in their wake.
The community now grapples with the aftermath of this dramatic event, as questions arise about the escalating tensions and the role of the traditional ruler in the unfolding crisis.
