The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, spearheaded a meeting with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on Friday in Order to integrate innovative technology in the relentless battle against corruption.
The Chairman’s visit to NITDA signals the dawn of a new era in combating corruption, with a special emphasis on leveraging technology to achieve ICPC’s mandate of enforcement, prevention, and mass mobilization against corruption. This strategic shift aligns with ICPC’s commitment to adapting and evolving within the digital landscape.
Dr. Aliyu underscored the paramount role of technology in the fight against corruption, stating, “With advancements in all sectors, adopting the best technologies in fighting and preventing corruption is crucial. Our partnership with NITDA is aimed at exploring support in digitizing ICPC, enhancing transparency, accountability, and effectiveness, thereby boosting public confidence.”
Highlighting the indispensability of technology, he further explained, “Fighting corruption without technology is unthinkable at this stage. Our primary responsibilities at ICPC include preventing corruption, investigating, and prosecuting. Technology is essential for us to operate effectively.”
NITDA’s Director-General, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, expressed the agency’s readiness to assist ICPC, sharing insights on NITDA’s Digital Transformation Playbook. He stressed that digital transformation is a continuous journey, emphasizing the importance of building capabilities for sustainable results.
The meeting also involved discussions on forming a joint committee, symbolizing an ongoing collaboration between ICPC and NITDA. This joint effort underscores the commitment to digital transformation as a constant process, crucial for a proactive approach in the fight against corruption.
