King Charles And President Tinubu Promise To Promote Climate Actions

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria engaged in a significant meeting with King Charles III of England during the ongoing COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai.

Both leaders, participants in the global conference featuring representatives from over 198 countries, convened to discuss climate advocacy and strengthen the partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

President Tinubu shared the news of the meeting on his X account, praising King Charles III as a passionate climate advocate.

He expressed optimism about the positive impact of joint efforts between Nigeria and the United Kingdom on the planet’s future, emphasizing the importance of setting an equitable global standard for environmental stewardship at COP28.





This meeting marked President Tinubu’s first official engagement since arriving in Dubai earlier in the day. In his address to a joint session of the National Assembly, he presented the 2024 budget proposal and disclosed his directive to relevant government agencies to actively secure substantial funding commitments for Nigeria’s energy transition.

President Tinubu stressed the need for Nigeria to leverage the opportunity presented by COP28 to attract international partnerships and investments aligned with national goals.

He urged representatives to showcase the country’s progress in creating an enabling environment for sustainable energy projects.

“I call upon our representatives to engage proactively to showcase the strides we have made in the quest to create an enabling environment for sustainable energy projects. Together, we will strive for Nigeria to emerge from COP28 with tangible commitments, reinforcing our dedication to a future where energy is not only a catalyst for development but also a driver of environmental stewardship,” President Tinubu stated.

Tinubu congratulates Gbadegesin on appointment as CEO of Climate Investment Funds

President Bola Tinubu has sent a congratulatory message to Tariye Gbadegesin on her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Climate Investment Funds.

Tinubu said he is confident that Tariye’s contributions would leave a mark in the global effort to combat climate change adding that her appointment is a proud moment for Nigeria.

The President congratulated Tariye in a post on his X handle on Thursday, November 30.

He wrote: “As the world converges for #COP28   , I am immensely proud to congratulate Tariye Gbadegesin on her landmark appointment as CEO of the Climate Investment Funds.

“Tariye’s appointment is not just a personal achievement but also a proud moment for Nigeria.

“Her wealth of experience in climate finance and sustainable infrastructure places her at the forefront of the global fight against climate change.

“Nigeria stands firmly behind Tariye, supporting her in this significant role. I am confident that her contributions will leave an indelible mark in the global effort to combat climate change as we move towards a greener, more sustainable future. Congratulations, Tariye!”
