Manchester United have confirmed that Raphael Varane will not be fit enough to travel with the squad for this Sunday’s trip to Arsenal.
The French centre-back has consistently struggled with injuries during his two years with the Red Devils so far.
His latest knock came in Saturday’s 3-2 comeback win at home to Nottingham Forest, with Man Utd now confirming that he has been ruled out of this Sunday’s match at the Emirates Stadium.
A club statement read: “Raphael Varane will be missing from the team when Manchester United face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday due to injury.
“The France international came off at half-time in our 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday due to the complaint, which is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.
“Erik ten Hag may provide an update on team news during the pre-match press conference on Friday.”
Varane becomes Man Utd’s latest defensive casualty following injuries to left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia and they are in talks over a loan deal for Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.
Victor Lindelof was brought on in place of Varane on Saturday and so is expected to start at Arsenal ahead of former club captain Harry Maguire.
