Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has rejected the club’s no.7 shirt.
The Brazil international has been reportedly offered the shirt for the 2023-24 season but the he is not interested in wearing the iconic shirt,
The Brazilian wears the no.20 shirt for Los Blancos while former Belgium international, Eden Hazard is currently holding the no.7.
ESPN Brazil reports that Madrid are willing to hand the no.7 jersey to Vinicius, but the World Cup star declined to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Amancio, Raymond Kopa, Juanito and Emilio Butragueno.
Vinicius joined Real Madrid in 2018 for a fee of €45 million and was given the no.20, saying that it’s his preferred number and has brought him luck in his career.
If Vinicius had taken the no.7 shirt next season, it would likely have meant Eden Hazard’s exit from the club.
