PSG Féminines Bolster Squad With Signing Of Super Falcons Star Rasheedat Ajibade.

Paris Saint-Germain Féminines have secured the signature of Nigerian international Rasheedat Ajibade on a two-year contract, a move that strengthens their attacking options ahead of the 2025-26 French Arkema Première Ligue season. The 25-year-old forward, who captained Nigeria’s Super Falcons to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco in July, joins the French giants as a free agent after her contract with Atlético Madrid expired last season. The deal, announced on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, will keep Ajibade at PSG until 30 June 2027.

Ajibade, born in Lagos’s Mushin district, brings a wealth of experience and a remarkable story of resilience to Paris. Rising from humble beginnings, she began her career at FC Robo Queens in Nigeria’s Women’s Premier League at just 13, earning the NFF Young Player of the Year award in 2018. Her journey took her to Norway’s Avaldsnes IL at 17 before a successful four-year stint at Atlético Madrid, where she scored 40 goals in 139 appearances, clinching the 2021 Spanish Super Cup and 2023 Copa de la Reina. Her standout performances at WAFCON, where she was named Player of the Tournament, underscored her reputation as one of Africa’s finest talents.

Expressing her delight, Ajibade said, “I’m deeply honoured to join Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe. This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere.” She highlighted the opportunity to grow at a prestigious club alongside “incredible talent” and her excitement for the revamped UEFA Women’s Champions League, which she believes will elevate competition. Ajibade also noted the significance of PSG’s Nigerian connection, referencing club legend Jay-Jay Okocha, whose legacy resonates deeply with fans back home.

Ajibade will team up with compatriot Jennifer Echegini, another Super Falcons star, at PSG, a pairing expected to enhance the club’s attacking prowess and aid her integration. “Having a teammate from the national team will play a vital role in settling in quickly,” she said, emphasizing their shared history and her leadership as Nigeria’s captain. PSG’s sporting director praised Ajibade’s pace, creativity, and winning mentality, seeing her as a key addition to challenge Lyon’s dominance in Division 1 Féminine, which PSG last won in 2021.

The signing has generated buzz among fans, with posts on X celebrating Ajibade’s move as a milestone for Nigerian women’s football. Her arrival follows a standout 2024-25 season at Atlético, where she scored eight goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances. Now donning the number 10 shirt, Ajibade is set to make her PSG debut against Lens on 6 September, with the club aiming to reclaim domestic glory and make a mark in Europe. Her inspiring journey from Lagos to Paris continues to motivate young footballers, cementing her status as a role model for the next generation.
