Tragedy Strikes Southern California As Small Plane Crashes Into Residential Neighborhood

Tragedy Strikes Southern California As Small Plane Crashes Into Residential Neighborhood.

A devastating incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Simi Valley, California, when a small plane crashed into the backyard of a residential neighborhood, resulting in the deaths of two people onboard. The Ventura County Fire Department received reports of the single-engine aircraft crashing into two houses at approximately 2:00 pm.

According to authorities, the plane, a Van’s RV-10, had taken off from William J. Fox Airfield in Los Angeles County and was heading to Camarillo Airport in neighboring Ventura County when the accident occurred. Police confirmed that a pilot, a passenger, and a dog were aboard the plane when it crashed.

Damage and Response

The impact of the crash caused significant damage to the homes, with holes in the roof and a fence and brick wall between residences knocked down. Firefighters responded quickly to the scene, and despite the severity of the damage, no residents were injured.

The Simi Valley Police Department located the plane in the backyard of a residence, and the Ventura County Fire Department verified that both passengers onboard had suffered fatal injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration is likely to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.

Previous Incident Involving Same Plane Model

This incident echoes a previous accident in January involving the same model of plane, a Van’s RV-10, which crashed into a commercial building near Fullerton Municipal Airport, resulting in two fatalities and 18 injuries.

The community is left shaken by this tragic event, and authorities will work to determine the cause of the crash to prevent such incidents in the future.
