Three Labour Party Lawmakers Defect To PDP, Cite Governor Mbah’s Outstanding Performance.
Three lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, citing Governor Peter Mbah’s outstanding performance in governance. The defecting lawmakers, who include Mark Chidi Obetta, Dennis Agbo, and Malachi Onyechi, stated that opposition politics has become impossible in the state due to Mbah’s transparent, honest, and inclusive leadership.
The lawmakers, who were received into the PDP at the party’s secretariat in Enugu, praised Mbah’s remarkable achievements in various sectors, including road infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security. Obetta described his return to the PDP as a “homecoming” and said that Mbah’s leadership style has made Enugu State a reference point for development.
Agbo lauded Mbah’s visionary leadership, which he said was transforming the state. He noted that with their defection, the LP has nothing remaining in the Enugu North Senatorial zone. The lawmakers’ defection is seen as a significant blow to the LP in the state, with the PDP expressing confidence that the 2027 election would be a walkover for the party due to Mbah’s performance.
The PDP State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwuwike, assured the defecting lawmakers and their supporters that Mbah would continue to deliver and run an all-inclusive administration. The development underscores the growing popularity of Mbah’s leadership and the PDP’s strength in the state.
