Three Katsina Lawmakers Defect From PDP To APC.
Three members of the House of Representatives from Katsina State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors are:
– Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, representing Mashi and Dutsi federal constituency
– Hon. Aliyu Iliyasu Ruma, representing Batsari, Safana, and Danmusa federal constituency
– Hon. Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, representing Bakori and Danja federal constituency
The announcement was made during a plenary session of the House of Representatives, where Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read out their letters of defection. The lawmakers cited lingering internal crisis and unresolved issues within the PDP as the major reasons behind their decision to leave the party.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, was present in the chamber to witness the lawmakers’ formal defection to the APC. The governor’s presence underscores the significance of this political realignment, which marks another win for the APC as it continues to consolidate power across key states.
This defection follows a similar move by six lawmakers from Delta State, who defected from the PDP to the APC on Tuesday. The trend highlights the increasing political realignments ahead of upcoming elections.
