Russian Drone Strikes Hit Ukraine’s Kharkiv, Wounding 47 Civilians

Russian Drone Strikes Hit Ukraine’s Kharkiv, Wounding 47 Civilians.

Russian drone strikes on Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, have wounded 47 civilians, police have reported. The attacks, which targeted residential areas, also caused fires and damaged civilian infrastructure and vehicles. An 11-year-old girl was among those injured.

The strikes on Kharkiv come hours after Russian attacks on the southern city of Zaporizhzhia wounded over 20 people. Kharkiv, located near the Russian border, has been subjected to relentless attacks throughout Moscow’s invasion.

In response to the attacks, Ukrainian officials have condemned the violence, while Russian officials reported a “massive attack” by Ukraine on the Krasnodar region. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that the Black Sea coast was targeted, with three apartment blocks damaged in Novorossiysk, resulting in four injuries, including two children.

The latest assaults occur amid ongoing talks between the US and both sides to end Moscow’s three-year invasion. A landmark deal was recently signed between Kyiv and Washington for mineral extraction in Ukraine. Russia has announced a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine, coinciding with World War II celebrations in Moscow, but Kyiv has denounced it as a “manipulation.”
