Rotimi Reveals Why He Left 50 Cent’s G-Unit Record Label

Afrobeats star Rotimi has disclosed that he exited 50 Cent’s record label G-Unit because the American rapper didn’t understand his style of music, Afrobeats.

According to Rotimi, Afrobeats wasn’t mainstream in the Western world at the time he was signed to G-Unit. Rotimi revealed this in a recent interview with Adesope Live, stating that 50 Cent didn’t comprehend the Afrobeats sound. He said, “50 Cent and I had a conversation. He was like, ‘What’s this sound you are trying to do?’ I said, ‘Bro, it’s Afrobeats.'” Rotimi added that he had a record called ‘Love Rhythm’ which he believed was going to blow up, but 50 Cent didn’t understand the sound. He stated that he told 50 Cent that if he didn’t understand what Afrobeats was, then he had to go somewhere else. Rotimi went on to become the first Afrobeats artist to work with Empire, who understood his vision. He has since then gone on to achieve great success in the music industry.
