Police Investigate Death Of Delta Governor’s Aide, Place Husband In Protective Custody.
The Delta State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the mysterious death of Chief Shimite Love, Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who passed away on Easter Monday in Asaba.
According to the police, Chief Love’s death is currently being treated as suspicious, pending the outcome of an ongoing autopsy intended to determine whether foul play was involved. The deceased’s husband, who initially reported her death, has been placed in protective custody as part of the investigative process.
Speaking on the matter, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, clarified that the husband was not under arrest. *“He is in protective custody for his own safety,”* Edafe explained. *“He voluntarily came forward to report the incident and raised concerns about receiving threats from members of his late wife’s family.”*
Shortly after his report, the family of the late Chief Love lodged a formal complaint with the police, expressing suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death and urging a comprehensive inquiry.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Love, describing her as a dedicated and inspiring leader. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor praised her professional excellence and unwavering commitment to the state.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to her family and the Ebu community in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
