Ondo State Governor Dissolves Executive Council, Retains Key Officials

Ondo State Governor Dissolves Executive Council, Retains Key Officials.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has announced the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council. The decision was communicated via a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.

However, in a notable exception, Governor Aiyedatiwa has retained two key members of his cabinet due to the vital roles they play in state governance. Dr. Kayode Ajulo, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, along with Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac, the Commissioner for Finance, will continue in their positions.

The statement from the Governor’s office instructed all affected members of the executive council to hand over all government properties in their possession to the accounting officers in their respective ministries. This move marks a significant transition in the state’s administrative structure, potentially heralding new directions in policy and governance.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to the outgoing members for their dedication and contributions to the development of Ondo State. He extended his best wishes for their future endeavours, acknowledging their service under his administration.

This dissolution comes on the heels of a similar action in Nasarawa State, where Governor Abdullahi Sule dissolved his State Executive Council just two weeks prior. The announcement in Nasarawa was made by Governor Sule at the conclusion of an expanded executive meeting, indicating a trend among some state governments to restructure their administrative frameworks.

The exact reasons behind these dissolutions have not been explicitly stated, but such actions often precede new appointments, policy shifts, or a strategic realignment of state priorities. As Ondo State moves forward, all eyes will be on Governor Aiyedatiwa to see how he reshapes his government team and what new initiatives might emerge from this restructuring.
