Liverpool Make Positive Strides Towards New Salah Deal.
Liverpool are edging closer to securing a new contract for star forward Mohamed Salah, as negotiations continue to progress positively between the club and the player’s representatives.
Although a final agreement is yet to be reached, sources close to the discussions suggest that encouraging steps have been taken, with all parties hopeful that a deal can soon be concluded. Salah’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, sparking speculation about his future amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
However, the recent breakthrough in talks has renewed optimism at Anfield that the Egyptian international will extend his stay with the Premier League giants. Salah has been instrumental in Liverpool’s campaign this season, scoring 32 goals in all competitions and playing a pivotal role in the team’s push for silverware.
Since his arrival in the summer of 2017, Salah has become a fan favourite and one of the most prolific forwards in the club’s history, helping Liverpool to multiple trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
In a further boost to the club, captain Virgil van Dijk – whose own contract is also due to expire this summer – confirmed earlier this week that talks over his future are moving in the right direction.
“There is progress, yes,” Van Dijk said. “These are internal discussions and we’ll see. I love the club, I love the fans and they were there for us again [at Fulham].”
While developments regarding Salah and Van Dijk offer promise, the situation around Trent Alexander-Arnold remains more uncertain. The right-back, also out of contract at the end of the season, is reportedly in talks with Real Madrid over a possible free transfer to Spain.
Liverpool fans will be hoping the club can tie down all three key players as they prepare for an exciting conclusion to the season and look ahead to the future.
