Bellingham And Mbappé Inspire Real Madrid To Victory Over Getafe.
Real Madrid closed the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona to just one point following a commanding 2-0 victory over Getafe. Goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé secured the win at the Santiago Bernabéu, further showcasing their impressive partnership this season.
The breakthrough came after half an hour when Bellingham calmly converted a penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after Allan Nyom was adjudged to have pulled Antonio Rüdiger to the ground during a corner routine.
Eight minutes later, Bellingham turned provider, threading a perfectly weighted pass through to Mbappé. The French forward controlled the ball expertly before slotting it into the bottom corner, bringing his tally to eight league goals for the season.
Getafe had opportunities to respond, with Christantus Uche nearly halving the deficit. Spinning away from Rüdiger, Uche unleashed a powerful strike that rattled the post, leaving goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois helpless. Substitute John Patrick came even closer, unleashing a thunderous effort that struck both the crossbar and the post as Getafe pushed for a lifeline.
Despite their dominance, Carlo Ancelotti’s men missed chances to extend their lead. Brahim Diaz came close with a delicate lob over goalkeeper David Soria, only to see his effort land on the roof of the net. Fede Valverde also tested Soria, who expertly tipped his low drive past the post.
Mbappé could have sealed the victory in style late on. Sent through on goal, the French star dribbled around Soria but was forced wide, and his eventual shot was off target.
The win keeps Real Madrid firmly in the title race as they continue to pile pressure on Barcelona, with Bellingham and Mbappé proving instrumental in their pursuit of glory.
