Trump Appoints Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy To Lead New ‘Department Of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE).
President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to jointly lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency” alongside former Republican primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. The advisory body aims to streamline government processes and reduce bureaucracy, with Trump calling it potentially the “Manhattan Project of our time”—a nod to the World War II initiative that led to the creation of nuclear weapons.
Musk and Ramaswamy’s roles are expected to focus on modernising government functions, with the objective of making federal operations more efficient and less encumbered by red tape, according to White House correspondent David Willis.
Trump has also announced key cabinet positions, appointing Fox News host and Army veteran Pete Hegseth as Defence Secretary. John Ratcliffe has been named Director of National Intelligence, while South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem will lead the Department of Homeland Security.
Meanwhile, Republicans are closing in on a majority in the House of Representatives, with vote counting ongoing in several remaining races.
These appointments reflect Trump’s commitment to assembling a team with both private sector experience and conservative principles as he prepares to take office.
