Hilda Baci Set To Break Guinness World Record With World’s Largest Pot Of Jollof Rice.

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci is preparing to make culinary history by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice on 12 September 2025 at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos. The ambitious Guinness World Record attempt will feature a colossal six-metre-wide and six-metre-high pot, a project that has been in development for two years.

Baci, renowned for her 2023 cook-a-thon where she smashed the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, announced the event in collaboration with seasoning and culinary brand Gino. “This is more than cooking; it’s a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us,” she said in a video shared on Instagram. The event promises to be a vibrant cultural festival, showcasing Nigerian cuisine, music, and community spirit.

The chef, who has previously won the Jollof Faceoff Competition in 2021, aims to elevate Nigeria’s culinary heritage on the global stage. “Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice the world had ever seen. With Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality,” Baci stated. The massive pot will be used to prepare the iconic West African dish, known for its rich blend of long-grain rice, tomatoes, spices, and vegetables.

Beyond the record-breaking attempt, the event will serve as a communal celebration, inviting Nigerians to partake in the feast and experience the cultural significance of jollof rice. Baci’s previous record-breaking endeavour in 2023, where she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes, captivated millions and even caused the Guinness World Records website to crash due to overwhelming traffic from her supporters. Her latest venture is expected to draw similar enthusiasm, with prominent figures and locals anticipated to attend.

The initiative has garnered significant buzz, with posts on social media platforms highlighting the scale of the project and its cultural importance. Baci’s efforts continue to spotlight Nigerian cuisine, following her earlier success in putting the nation’s dishes on the global map. The event is poised to be a landmark moment, blending culinary ambition with national pride.
