Governor Fintiri Suspends Emir Of Daware Over Corruption And Maladministration.
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has indefinitely suspended the Emir of Daware, Hassan Ja’afaru, following findings of corruption, maladministration, breach of security, and other serious offences.
The decision, conveyed in a letter dated 25 April 2025 and signed by the Permanent Secretary for Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, comes after a thorough investigation into several allegations levelled against the traditional ruler, who formerly served as District Head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area.
According to the letter, Ja’afaru was found guilty of acts including the confiscation of farmlands and prolonged absences from his domain, which created a vacuum in the management of traditional affairs.
“Following a series of complaints made against you for maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a vacuum that has left traditional matters unattended due to your absence from your domain, I am therefore directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely,” the letter stated.
Governor Fintiri has directed the embattled Emir to immediately hand over all government properties in his possession to the Secretary of the District, pending further action.
The suspension underscores the Adamawa State Government’s commitment to maintaining transparency, good governance, and accountability across all levels of leadership, including traditional institutions.
This move also aligns with the administration’s broader efforts to strengthen the rule of law and promote peace, particularly in light of Governor Fintiri’s recent calls for unity and selflessness among citizens, as echoed in his Easter message earlier this month.
In related developments, Adamawa State has continued to strengthen public services through partnerships, including a Memorandum of Understanding signed with UNICEF to train workers and bolster child protection initiatives. Additionally, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to public health, assuring citizens of the safety and effectiveness of polio vaccination campaigns.
Governor Fintiri’s decisive action is seen as part of his broader agenda to enhance governance and ensure that traditional rulers uphold the highest standards of leadership expected of them.
