FRSC Confirms Four Dead, Nine Injured In Lone Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun has confirmed that four people lost their lives, while nine others sustained injuries in a lone accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.

Mrs Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun, disclosed the details in a statement on Monday, attributing the crash to speeding and a tyre burst, which resulted in a loss of control.

“The suspected causes of the lone crash were speed violation and a tyre burst, which led to loss of control. The vehicle, marked FKJ 570 YE, crashed,” Okpe stated.

According to her, the accident, which occurred at 8:30 p.m., involved 13 passengers—five men and eight women. Tragically, two men and two women lost their lives, while three men and six women sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The injured victims were promptly taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere for medical attention, while the deceased were deposited at FOS Morgue in Ipara.

Meanwhile, the FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, called on motorists to remain vigilant while driving and to routinely inspect their vehicles for possible defects.

He also urged motorists to adhere to the required speed limits assigned to different vehicle categories, emphasising the importance of road safety.

Fasakin further advised fleet operators to install speed limit devices in their vehicles and prioritise safety to prevent similar accidents.
