Flamingos Shine In Dominant 9-0 Victory Over Niger Republic.

Nigeria’s U-17 girls, the Flamingos, delivered a sensational performance on Thursday, thrashing Niger Republic 9-0 in their second match of the WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup in Ghana.

The team started strongly, with Aishat Animashaun opening the scoring in the fifth minute after connecting with a well-placed in-swinger from Mary Mamudu. FIFA U-17 World Cup star Shakirat Moshood then stole the spotlight, scoring a spectacular 35-yard screamer in the 17th minute to double Nigeria’s lead.

Moshood continued her brilliance six minutes later, netting her second goal, assisted by Animashaun. Janet Akekoromowei joined the scoring spree in the 33rd minute with a close-range effort, before adding two more goals in the 42nd and 43rd minutes to complete a first-half hat-trick.

Moshood capped off a dominant first-half display with her own hat-trick in the 45th minute, bringing the score to 7-0 at half-time.

In the second half, Moshood was unstoppable once again, driving through the Nigerien defence to score her fourth goal of the match in the 59th minute. Peace Effiong rounded off the rout in the 79th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box, leaving Niger Republic’s goalkeeper Ndiaye Fatai Basiru helpless.

The emphatic victory highlights the Flamingos’ attacking prowess and sets the stage for their next match against Côte d’Ivoire on Monday. With such an impressive display, the team will look to maintain their momentum as they push for glory in the tournament.
