FG Appoints Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede To National AI Trust.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has appointed Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings, as a member of the newly established National AI Trust, a significant step in advancing the nation’s artificial intelligence agenda.
The announcement was made by Dr Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, during a briefing in Abuja on Saturday. The move follows the Federal Executive Council’s approval in February 2025 to create the National AI Trust, aimed at steering Nigeria’s progress in AI development.

The trust is designed to align Nigeria’s AI initiatives with broader objectives, including economic growth, job creation, and attracting foreign investment. Mr Aig-Imoukhuede will collaborate with a team of experts to provide strategic guidance on developing and managing AI tools and platforms for the country.
The initiative will be co-led by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy and the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology. While the full list of trust members remains undisclosed, the government highlighted Mr Aig-Imoukhuede’s extensive experience in digital innovation and leadership as key to driving this ambitious project forward.
Notably, his foundation has previously partnered with government bodies, including on the Nigeria Web Design Standards project launched in late 2024, which focused on enhancing the accessibility, security, and usability of public websites.
This appointment marks a pivotal moment for Nigeria as it seeks to harness AI to bolster its economy and global competitiveness.
