The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to informants, kidnappers, bandits, and criminals within the territory, urging them to repent or face the consequences of their actions, including possible encounters with security operatives.

Wike delivered this warning during the conclusion of his town hall meetings with stakeholders in various area councils across Abuja.

The minister had previously held similar engagements in Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kwali, AMAC, and Abaji, concluding the series in Kuje. Wike emphasised his commitment to addressing insecurity, stating, “We are going to tackle insecurity head-on. These bandits and criminals, their time is up.”

He specifically addressed potential criminal informants, cautioning them to reconsider their actions. Wike stated, “If you are an informant, you will die the same way those people you are informing will die. You have the opportunity to repent today or else you are gone. Nobody will pity you.”

Wike highlighted recent security efforts and operations, assuring the public that the approach would not follow the “business as usual” pattern. He urged residents to collaborate with security agencies by providing relevant information. The minister emphasised the need for vigilance groups to be empowered and profiled to enhance security measures.

Expressing shock at the poor state of roads in Kuje Area Council, Wike pledged to revisit the council’s file and initiate the construction of motorable roads. He stated, “Be assured that you will see changes in this area, council.”

The Council Chairman, Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, commended Wike for his timely intervention in the six area councils and appealed for the construction of pending roads, emphasising the significance of the minister’s commitment to tackling insecurity and improving infrastructure.

Wike responded to the chairman’s remarks, vowing to address the challenges faced by the residents and complete the necessary projects. He assured the community that his administration would fulfil its responsibilities faithfully.

The minister’s strong stance on combating criminal activities and addressing infrastructure deficiencies signals a proactive approach to enhancing security and development in the Federal Capital Territory.
