Edo Queens Shine at WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.
Nigeria’s Edo Queens have made a significant impact at the recently concluded WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifying tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, with five of their players being named in the Team of the Tournament.
The standout players include Emem Essien, Valentino Uroko, tournament Most Valuable Player Suliat Abideen, Vera Samuel, and Ijeoma Uzoma. Their impressive performances played a crucial role in Edo Queens’ success throughout the competition.
Edo Queens capped off their tournament run with a commanding 3-0 victory over Beninese side Ainonvi FC in the final, securing their place as the third Nigerian club to win the tournament. This triumph also earned them the sole ticket to represent the region at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The host country for the finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League will be determined during the CAF General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on 10 October 2024.
This achievement underscores Edo Queens’ growing dominance in women’s football, and the team will now set their sights on making a strong impact on the continental stage.
