CBEX Crypto Scam Suspect Surrenders To EFCC.
Adefowora Abiodun, one of the individuals declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with the controversial cryptocurrency platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), has voluntarily surrendered to the anti-graft agency. Abiodun, accompanied by his legal team, arrived at the EFCC headquarters on Monday, April 28, expressing his willingness to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
The EFCC had declared Abiodun and seven others wanted over their alleged roles in a massive fraudulent investment scheme worth over $1 billion. Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja had previously approved the commission’s request to arrest and detain the suspects pending further investigation and potential prosecution.
Abiodun’s lawyer, Babatunde Busari, stated that his client chose to come forward to assist with the investigation and clarify misinformation circulating in the media. This development marks a significant step in the EFCC’s efforts to bring those involved in the alleged scam to justice.
The EFCC’s investigation into the CBEX platform is ongoing, and it remains to be seen how Abiodun’s surrender will impact the case. The agency’s efforts to hold those responsible for financial crimes accountable continue to yield results, demonstrating its commitment to protecting investors and maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
