BREAKING: Rivers State Governor Fubara Installs New Caretaker Chairmen

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has inaugurated new caretaker chairmen for all 23 local government areas.

The governor’s action came shortly after the state House of Assembly, under factional leadership by Speaker Victor Jumbo, screened and confirmed the nominees forwarded by Governor Fubara.

The state has been embroiled in a crisis exacerbated by clashes between supporters of Governor Fubara and those of his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. This unrest peaked recently with a fatal incident at the Eberi-Omuma secretariat in Omuma LGA, resulting in the tragic death of a policeman during a clash.

The police have taken over all 23 council secretariats, aiming to maintain law and order as the transition to new caretaker leadership unfolds.
