Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has shared his journey to becoming a professional musician, revealing that music was initially just a hobby for him.
Dakolo explained that he only decided to pursue music professionally after winning the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007.
Dakolo described himself as an “accidental musician,” saying that music wasn’t something he thought he would do professionally. He started singing in choir and later wrote songs to impress girls.
Dakolo recalled that it was after his win on Idols that he decided to take music seriously, saying “Sometimes you meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it.”
