Thieves Steal Cows Meant For Celestial Church’s Thanksgiving Celebration.
In a shocking incident just days before the ninth “Adult Harvest Thanksgiving Service” of the Celestial Church of Christ, Testimony Parish in Elerumoke, Egbeda, Iyana Ajia, Oyo State, suspected thieves desecrated the church premises and made off with two large cows intended for the celebration.
The stolen animals, valued at approximately N2 million, were taken last Saturday while the shepherd-in-charge and other prominent church leaders were asleep. The theft left members of various church committees in disbelief when they learned of the incident.
Oluso Ayo, a leader of the church, confirmed the theft to Saturday Tribune on Thursday, expressing the shock and dismay of the church community. “The incident really happened. Suspected thieves invaded our church premises and made away with two cows meant for the harvest celebration,” Ayo explained.
The cows, which had been tethered on the premises, were found to have been untied by the thieves. While church members discovered footprints leading to and from the location where the cows had been kept, the exact whereabouts of the stolen animals remain unknown.
Despite the unfortunate event, the church leadership remains hopeful that the celebration will continue as planned. The incident has sparked concerns about security in the area, but the church community is determined to carry on with their thanksgiving service.
