Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has criticized Instagram influencer Ashmusy over her rags-to-riches narrative, questioning its authenticity.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ashmusy shared her tumultuous childhood, including living with 20 people, having an absent father, and her mother’s financial struggles. She revealed her mother borrowed money for her Madonna University tuition, providing only N5K per semester.
VDM accused Ashmusy of fabricating her story, drawing parallels with tactics used by musicians. He questioned how a mother in a crowded room could afford private university tuition instead of investing in a business.
VDM argued that false narratives complicate life for those with genuine rags-to-riches stories.
