Roma’s Evan Ndicka Hospitalized After Udinese Match Abandoned
In a concerning turn of events, Roma’s Evan Ndicka was hospitalized after collapsing during the Serie A match against Udinese on Sunday.
The game was subsequently abandoned as medical teams rushed to attend to the 24-year-old defender.
Ndicka, hailing from Ivory Coast, collapsed in the 72nd minute of the match and was swiftly taken off the field on a stretcher. Fortunately, he was conscious during the process.
Roma later shared an update on social media, revealing that Ndicka is in “good spirits” and “feels better” while being under observation for further tests at the hospital. His teammates also visited him to offer their support.
Ndicka joined Roma on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 and has made 19 appearances for the Italian club.
The match was abandoned after discussions between the medical staff, emergency services, and the referee. Prior to Ndicka’s collapse, Udinese had taken an early lead through Roberto Pereyra, with Roma’s Romelu Lukaku equalizing later in the game.
With the remainder of the match now pending rescheduling, the focus remains on Ndicka’s well-being and recovery.
